The Alumnae Panhellenic chapters of SCCAP are focused on helping young women excel by offering scholarships for high school, college and graduate students. Please feel free to contact any of our groups for more information about their scholarship programs.
Coachella Valley Alumnae Panhellenic
Since 1954, CVAP has awarded over 500 scholarships to college-bound young women from each of the 10 public high schools in the valley. Starting in February, the scholarship committee begins to read through and interview the many applicants. The first Saturday of May, CVAP holds their scholarship luncheon where a minimum of 10 scholarships are given – one to each of the area high schools and a Marianne Timmons Award for Excellence. In 2023, CVAP presented two scholarships per high school. They are judged in the areas of academics, extracurricular activities and community involvement, and are planning to attend a four-year college or university where NPC is active. Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic
GLBAP awards $500 and $1,000 scholarships each year to collegiate and alumnae students who live, or are going to school, in the Long Beach area and are active in their NPC-affiliated sororities. The Collegian Scholarship is presented to undergraduates who have demonstrated excellence in academics, sorority activities, community involvement and other extracurricular pursuits. The Carol Jean “cj” Donovan Legacy of Philanthropy Scholarship is awarded to undergraduates who have performed a high level of community service as individuals and through their sororities. The Dorothy “Jan” Jones Alumna Scholarship is a new honor designed for students pursuing graduate studies who have remained active in their sororities through a local alumnae chapter.
The call for applications takes place in January. The winners receive their awards at the GLBAP annual Scholarship Banquet held in the spring. For more information, go to the GLBAP website. To be placed on the mailing list for the call for applications, contact [email protected].
Greater Pomona Valley Alumnae Panhellenic
GPVAPH is now in its third year of offering scholarships to local Panhellenic women. Eligible applicants will be an initiated member in good standing of one of the 26 women’s-only inter/national NPC member organizations and either a resident of the Pomona Valley or a current student at one of the four universities in the Inland Empire, California, with an NPC Panhellenic Council, which include Cal Poly Pomona, University of LaVerne, Cal State San Bernardino and UC Riverside. The application window opens in April and closes October 1. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded in 2024. Additional information and application links can be found on the GPVAPH website.
NPC Foundation
The National Panhellenic Conference Foundation offers six scholarships to outstanding Panhellenic women. The scholarship application period runs from early December to mid-March each year. Recipients typically are announced in late spring and funds are distributed at the beginning of the fall term. Go to the NPC website for more information.
Newport Harbor Area Alumnae Panhellenic
Newport Harbor presents two scholarships annually in the amount of $2000 each. The Daphne Scholarship is presented to collegiate sorority women attending the University of California, Irvine. The Minerva Scholarship is awarded to sorority women who attend universities within the SCCAP area (other than UCI) that have been selected to receive applications for the scholarship. Applicants for the Daphne and Minerva Scholarships must be active members in good standing of a sorority that is affiliated with NPC. The open application period for the Daphne and Minerva scholarships is in the spring. Southern Orange County Alumnae Panhellenic
SOCAP, established in 1972, awards $1500 scholarships to college students from Southern Orange County who are active in their NPC-affiliated sorority. Scholarship recipients are announced and introduced at the SOCAP fundraising luncheon held each spring. Applicants must have attended a high school in the Saddleback Valley, Capistrano or Laguna Beach Unified School District, or a private high school in the South Orange County area. They must be a permanent resident of Aliso Viejo, Capistrano Beach, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano, or the communities of Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, Las Flores, Rancho Mission Viejo, and Trabuco Canyon. Applicants must have a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 and submit transcripts and a letter of recommendation from a professor/advisor as well as from a sorority alumna, employer, minister, or community associate.
